Nowadays, in order to reduce costs, many companies turn their attention to PCBs. For example, the original six-layer board is changed into four-layer board. In PADS2007, there are two useless layers. Many people feel awkward and always want to delete them.
The method of reducing the number of layers of a multi-layer board in PADS2007 is as follows. For example, the 4-layer board deletes the layer 2, layer 3 layer, and becomes a 2-layer board. Other methods and the like:
1: Delete the electrical characteristic data of layer2, including traces, copper, and via.
2: Delete the electrical characteristic data of the layer3 layer, including the traces, copper, and via on the layer.
3: Go to the menu setup/Layer DefiniTIon panel. Click the modify button in the Electrical layers. Enter 2 in the pop-up dialog box. If layer2 and layer3 have no electrical property data, then layer 4 becomes a 2-layer board. If layer2 and layer3 already have electrical property data, a warning will appear that layer2 and layer3 already have electrical property data. Delete it by the first and second steps, and then go to the third step.
4: The original part of the layer 2, layer3 can be placed on the top and bottom layers.
The author has also turned the six-layer board into a four-layer board many times, but still found that after this processing, some settings will be wrong when modifying some settings, and it is related to the deleted layer. So the author does not agree very much with this.
