Japan invents new OLED lighting method

No need for rare metals, the luminous efficiency is as high
Don't think that OLED technology is almost annihilated by South Korea. Recently, "Hyperfluorescence" which uses only fluorescent materials but has a luminous efficiency of 90% or more has been developed at Kyushu University's "Protected Organic Optoelectronics Research Center" (OPERA). The effect is equivalent to that of rare metal "phosphorus", but the cost is large. reduce.
Basically, existing OLED luminescent materials can be roughly classified into fluorescent and phosphorescent materials according to the principle of illuminating. The luminous efficiency of the fluorescent material is at most 25%, and the phosphorescent material is 100%. However, the luminous efficiency of the new material when excited by light is as high as that of the phosphorescent material. According to Anda Qianbo, a professor at Kyushu University, the president of OPERA, this is because of the phenomenon of "thermally active delayed fluorescence (TADF)" in new materials.
While maintaining high efficiency of illumination, a wide selection of luminescent colors is also a major feature of this material. OPERA has produced organic EL panels with luminescent colors such as blue, green, yellow-green, yellow, and orange. The yellow luminescent material has a luminous efficiency of only 26 ± 1% when excited by light, but the luminous efficiency of the green and yellow-green luminescent materials is 74 to 94%, and the blue and orange luminescent materials are about 47%. Although this difference still needs to be worked hard, Professor Anda of OPERA believes that once the new materials are commercialized, there is no need for phosphorus, a rare metal, which will have a major impact on organic OLED materials, and the relative cost impact will be greater.
