Research finds that some Android phones have permission holes

Research finds that some Android phones have permission holes According to the technology website Engadget, a research team at North Carolina State University found that eight Android phones, including the Motorola Droid X and the Samsung Epic 4G, have an important privilege vulnerability.

The results of the study show that some untrusted applications can potentially send malicious messages such as sending text messages, recording calls, etc. without the user's permission. Of the 13 analyses (including geolocation and access to contacts), 11 showed that the preloaded application exposed the permissions.

Interestingly, Google’s Nexus series devices are less likely to be compromised. This shows that other handset manufacturers may not be able to implement Android's security permissions model well.

Google and Motorola acknowledged the current deficiencies while Samsung and HTC remained silent. Therefore, users should install the application carefully before repairing the patch.
