High voltage isolated circuit breaker first appeared in China On July 31st, ABB, the world's leading power and automation technology group, provided high-voltage isolation circuit breakers (DCBs) and other power products for the 220 kV smart substation demonstration project under the State Grid Corporation of China. The demonstration project aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of power networks by deploying and integrating smart solutions.

This is the first domestic application of ABB's innovative high-voltage isolated circuit breakers. In conventional open substations, circuit breakers and disconnectors are separate devices that require their own installation space. ABB isolated circuit breakers integrate isolation functions with circuit breakers, eliminating the need for separate installations of two devices. This can reduce a considerable amount of floor space, reduce power losses, improve grid safety, and improve system reliability. In addition, this new high-voltage isolated circuit breaker is conducive to optimizing the operation and maintenance of substations and reducing the impact on the environment.

The isolated circuit breaker in the demonstration project integrates condition monitoring with other control functions, providing additional 'intelligence' for the secondary control layer, thereby perfecting the intelligence of the primary device layer.
