Radiation Monitor Timing Counting
The radiation monitor is equipped with a Geiger-Muller counter tube that measures ionizing radiation. When radiation particles pass through the GM tube, they cause ionization, which triggers a small electrical pulse. This pulse is detected by the internal circuitry and counted as a single event. The displayed value represents the number of counts recorded during the selected mode. Due to the random nature of radioactive decay, the count rate can fluctuate over time. To improve accuracy, it's recommended to take an average over a longer period. The device can measure radiation levels for durations ranging from 1 minute up to 24 hours. For shorter intervals, such as less than 1 minute, the display will show the count in seconds. You have the option to manually stop the timer at any time. The timing counting process involves the following steps: 1. Set the mode switch to "Total Count / Timer." The display will then show "TOTAL." 2. Adjust the timer switch on the top panel to "SET" to view the current setting. If this is the first time you're using the timer, the default setting is 00:01 (1 minute). 3. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the timing. The increments vary depending on the range: 1 minute for 1–10 minutes, 10 minutes for 10–50 minutes, and 1 hour for 1–2 hours. 4. Once the timer switch is set to "ON," the display will flash three times to start the countdown. During the interval, the wine glass icon will flash. If you want to check the remaining time, switch the timer back to "SET" to see the countdown in minutes or hours. 5. At the end of the set time, the device will beep three times. After more than 15 seconds, it will beep seven times again, and the final count will be shown on the screen. 6. When you turn the timer switch off, the device returns to normal operation. To calculate the average count per minute, simply divide the total count by the duration in minutes.
