Smart phone standby power consumption challenges and coping strategies

In consumer electronics products such as smartphones, tablets, and digital cameras, standby power consumption has always been a key design difficulty. In addition, these products require seamless power management and battery switching to provide better flexibility and battery reliability. The traditional load switch uses 2 to 3 MOS tubes plus resistance and capacitance to achieve. However, in current handheld devices such as smart phones, the battery capacity can no longer meet the application requirements, so the peripheral parts need to be optimized. An important advantage of IntelliMAX intelligent load switch is that it can reduce standby power consumption. He revealed, "After a well-known domestic smartphone uses the IntelliMAX smart load switch, the standby time has been increased from the previous day to 3 days."

In addition to reducing standby power consumption, the benefits of the integrated load switch include slew rate control, which can reduce the impact of inrush current (the camera and Wi-Fi load in mobile phones is large, and the inrush current when starting the device will affect The system is stable); over-current protection; realize system power-on sequencing. Different from the traditional load switch using CMOS process, IntelliMAX smart load switch is manufactured using Fairchild BiCMOS process, which can support a very low operating voltage, and the quiescent current is less than 1uA.

The FPF1039 and FPF1048 switches are suitable for smart devices and portable storage devices that require high current capability and low on-resistance solutions for power path management, providing 20m? And 23m? On-resistance, 1.2V ~ 5.5V and 1.5V ~ 5.5V input voltage range, and extremely low off current leakage, help to meet the requirements of low standby power consumption applications. The optimized slew rate controlled turn-on feature of TR = 2.7mS prevents voltage drops on power rails with large capacitors up to 200μF. FPF1048 also provides true reverse current block (True Reverse Current Block) function, regardless of whether the product is on or off, can avoid unwanted reverse power.

FPF2165R and FPF2195 full-featured load switches have adjustable current limit, which is very suitable for applications with physical connectors such as USB and HDMI, to deal with possible high current conditions. Using the current limiting function with external resistors, the input power budget control can be easily adjusted, providing reverse current blocking characteristics to prevent unnecessary reverse currents when the device is turned off. These devices work in constant current mode, which helps prevent current damage and maintain a limited current after a current limiting fault. Adopt 2 & TImes; 2mm2 MicroFET package.
