The whole industry chain and OLED will lead the future TV market

On September 12, the "Future TV Has Arrived – OLED Summit" took place at the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel. This major event brought together over 200 Chinese manufacturers, channel distributors, and industry experts to discuss the current state of the high-end TV market and the future direction of OLED technology. The summit not only showcased the latest achievements in OLED innovation but also gave attendees a glimpse into the future of television. The event was co-hosted by leading companies such as Changhong, Konka, Skyworth, LG Electronics, Philips, and Sony, with support from the China Electronic Video Industry Association and the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce. Notably, top executives from Suning Yunshang and Gome Appliances were also present, highlighting the growing interest in OLED technology across the retail sector. Skyworth Group’s CEO, Liu Weizhi, emphasized that while the TV market is saturated, OLED TVs are emerging as a new breakthrough. He expressed hope that OLED technology would help increase brand awareness and market share in the high-end segment. LG Display President Lu Xiangde shared his vision for OLED, stating that it would redefine the display industry and eventually dominate the future TV market. His speech generated significant excitement among attendees, who believe that consumer expectations for large OLED TVs will continue to rise. Since LG Display began mass-producing OLED panels in 2013, its products have been widely adopted by global TV manufacturers. By 2017, the company had expanded its customer base to 13 companies across China, Europe, and Japan. At IFA 2017, major brands like LG, Skyworth, Konka, Philips, and Panasonic all showcased their OLED TV models, signaling a strong industry shift toward this technology. OLED TVs offer superior image quality, ultra-thin designs, and wide viewing angles, making them stand out from traditional LCDs. Their ability to produce perfect blacks, infinite contrast, and reduced blue light makes them more comfortable for long viewing sessions. Additionally, OLED's flexible form factor allows for creative designs, such as wall-mounted “smart wallpapers” and self-sound OLED TVs that deliver immersive audio without external speakers. LG Display has significantly increased its production capacity, aiming for 1.8 million units in 2017 and expanding to 3 million in 2018, with a target of 6 million by 2020. To further promote OLED in China, the company has launched innovation centers in major cities and even set up OLED markers at iconic locations like Guangzhou Tower. Industry experts like Vincent Teoh, editor-in-chief of HDTV Testing, praised OLED TVs for their superior picture quality, especially in terms of contrast and color accuracy. Meanwhile, renowned Chinese fashion photographer Tong Meng highlighted OLED’s ability to accurately reproduce natural colors, reinforcing its appeal to consumers. The summit also featured an exhibition area where attendees could compare OLED technology with traditional displays and experience innovative products like transparent OLEDs, rollable screens, and smart wallpapers. These interactive displays helped reinforce the growing momentum behind OLED technology. As OLED continues to gain traction, it is clear that the technology is on its way to becoming the dominant force in the television industry. With increasing production, broader adoption, and continuous innovation, OLED is no longer just a trend — it’s the future of TV.
