CES2015: Samsung LG and other brands establish UHD Ultra High Definition Alliance

On January 7th, Beijing time, at the CES 2015 held in Las Vegas, UHD (Ultra High Definition) Ultra High Definition Alliance was announced.

The alliance is formed by leading Hollywood studios, consumer electronics brands, content distributors, post-production and technology companies and implements new standards that support resolutions including 4K and higher, high dynamic range, wider color gamut, and immersive Video technology innovations, including 3D audio, set the standard for next-generation video entertainment.

The UHD alliance will be consumer-centric and will provide information on high-quality UHD content, providing leading-edge devices for home entertainment.

The alliance will add a clear certification mark to standard ultra-high-quality UHD content and equipment so that consumers can quickly identify when choosing.

The founding members of the alliance include the American Direct Television Group, Dolby Laboratories, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Netflix, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, Tec Group, Disney Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Brothers.

The UHD Alliance can guarantee that the industry chain meets established high-quality standards in terms of content creation, distribution, consumption, and device playback capabilities. At the same time, the UHD Alliance accepts open and flexible standards in the market to provide consumers with content suitable for their devices.
