Precautions During the Installation of the Flowmeter
1) Before mounting the sensor on the process line, it is essential to check that the speed sensor coil, the DC resistance of the drive coil, and the resistance value of the platinum resistance thermometer are all within normal ranges. This ensures proper functionality and avoids potential malfunctions later on.
2) The sensor flange must be aligned precisely with the pipe flange to minimize installation stress and maintain measurement accuracy. When installing, make sure that the pipe supports only hold the process piping, and the sensor should not bear any weight from the pipe. Also, ensure that the sensor housing does not come into contact with any other objects or structures, as this could affect its performance.
3) When installing the sensor in the pipeline, ensure that both the upstream and downstream piping systems are securely fastened at two points. All threaded connections must be tightened properly to prevent leaks or vibrations. It's also recommended to clamp the process piping to reduce vibration disturbances, which can impact the sensor’s readings.
4) Avoid using the sensor housing to move or lift the sensor during installation. This can cause damage to internal components and compromise the device’s integrity.
5) Valves or pumps installed near the sensor on the process line should have their own independent support structures. Do not use the sensor’s support for these components, as this could introduce additional stress or misalignment.
6) Install a shut-off valve both upstream and downstream of the sensor. This allows for easier maintenance, calibration, and safe operation without disrupting the entire system.
7) Stress relief is crucial during installation. To eliminate installation stress effectively, it is best to pre-install the process piping, valve, and sensor together before lifting them into place. Then, weld them to the main process line. For optimal stress relief, ensure that the sensor, stop valve, and main pipeline are all aligned in the same vertical plane. This helps prevent mechanical stress that could affect long-term performance and accuracy.
By following these steps carefully, you can ensure the flowmeter operates accurately and reliably over its service life. Always refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines and consult with experienced technicians if needed.
