Precautions during the installation of the flowmeter

Precautions During the Installation of the Flowmeter

1) Before mounting the sensor on the process line, it is essential to check the condition of the speed sensor coil, the DC resistance of the drive coil, and the resistance value of the platinum resistance thermometer. These components should be within the specified ranges to ensure accurate performance.

2) The sensor flange must be aligned precisely with the pipe flange to minimize installation stress and maintain measurement accuracy. When installing, make sure that the pipe supports only hold the process piping and not the sensor itself. The sensor housing should remain free from any contact with external objects or structures to prevent damage or interference.

3) When installing the sensor in the process pipeline, ensure that both the upstream and downstream piping systems are securely fastened at two points. All threaded connections must be tightened properly to avoid leaks or loosening. Clamping the process piping can help reduce vibration, which may otherwise affect the flowmeter's readings and long-term reliability.

4) Avoid using the sensor housing as a means to move or adjust the sensor during installation. This could cause internal damage or misalignment, leading to inaccurate measurements.

5) Valves and pumps located near the sensor on the process line should have their own independent support structures. Do not use the sensor’s support system to hold these components, as this may introduce unwanted stress or vibration into the flowmeter.

6) It is recommended to install a shut-off valve both upstream and downstream of the sensor. This allows for easier maintenance, calibration, or replacement without disrupting the entire process line.

7) To eliminate installation stress, the best practice is to pre-install the process piping, valves, and sensor together before connecting them to the main pipeline. Once aligned, lift the assembly and weld it to the main line. For optimal stress relief, ensure that the sensor, stop valve, and main process line are all in the same vertical plane. This helps prevent mechanical strain and ensures long-term stability and accuracy of the flowmeter.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure proper installation, improve measurement accuracy, and extend the lifespan of the flowmeter. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific details and recommendations related to your model.
