To achieve a perfect 4K viewing experience, four key elements must be present: 4K content, 4K signal interface, 4K decoding, and 4K display. Although current TV manufacturers can ensure the last three hardware aspects, 4K content remains a major bottleneck. As a result, many consumers end up buying 4K TVs only to watch standard-definition content. It's like purchasing a branded bottle that's filled with cheap wine — it looks good but lacks real value.
However, some companies are working to break through this challenge. Haier TV has made a significant breakthrough in 4K content. According to Hao Haichang, Haier TV started investing in 4K content resources as early as three years ago. Partnering with Alibaba Group ensures that all content meets 4K standards during production. With the help of AI and big data, Alibaba Cloud stores 2,000 high-quality 4K videos. All 4K content uses H.265 encoding and has a bitrate of up to 20Mbps. Through smart push and storage technologies, users can simply voice their request, and within seconds, Haier TV will find the content from millions of options and download it instantly.
This focus on user needs has led to impressive growth for Haier TV. In 2016, when the overall TV market grew by only 7.8%, Haier TV achieved a staggering 76.8% growth, ten times the industry average. Their success in 4K content provides valuable insights for the entire industry.
As part of its Thanksgiving Month campaign this December, Haier is offering free module upgrades to existing users and giving away real 4K TVs to millions of households. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality home entertainment.
